Zambian Musician “Obed Chileshe” AKA “Chile One” Mr Zambia Arrested For Theft (News)
Musician Obed Chileshe, popularly known as Chile One, aged 30, from Lusaka’s New Kasama area, has been arrested for alleged theft.
Chile One, known for his captivating songs, is accused of stealing K6,530 from Radio Maria Yatsani Voice in Lusaka. The money was reportedly sent to his FNB account.
Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale stated that the alleged transaction took place between April 27 and April 28, 2023.
“Brief facts are that the Radio Station engaged the suspect to produce a jingle, which was quoted at K6,500,” Mr. Mwale explained.
Mr. Mwale said the money was sent to Chile One’s FNB account, but he claimed it did not reflect. Subsequently, the station management sent another K6,530 to his MTN mobile money number and agreed that once the FNB money reflected, he would refund them.
Mr. Mwale further noted that while Chile One produced the jingle, he did not repay the money initially sent to his FNB account.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to his arrest today around 12:00 PM. Mr. Mwale added that the celebrated artist is currently in custody and is yet to be formally charged.
